Elevated maps for a fantasic view
For the province of Brabant head office in ‘s Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, Daan de Haan designed 4 2-meter panels with 3d maps in relief, to function as a reference to the magnificent view from the top of the 23-storey building. Erik Meerburg generated the maps using QGis and Daan de Haan turned it into a printable design using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. In the map we assigned height to the different thematic map-elements. No actual height map data was used to keep the maps readable and clear. POI’s and an overview image were inserted. The prints are set at an angle to fit the window. Elevated Graphics also added a skyline reference with foil on the window. The biggest project so far for EG and a very satisfactory result.
